The game -- which
was initially scheduled to be played at 1 p.m. -- was between the Vikings and
the Eagles. The Vikings-Eagles matchup that was scheduled to take place on
Sunday night has been postponed because of the wintry weather conditions across
the Philadelphia area, the NFL announced today. The Vikings are at Philadelphia
to face the Eagles in the battle of NFC teams with 1-0 records.
The Vikings welcome
the Philadelphia Eagles to East Lansing for Week 2 in what is the first meeting
between these programs in more than 100 years. Meanwhile, the Vikings return
home to face Lions. The postponement does not seem likely to have a major
impact on either team, although there is more on the line for the Eagles than
for the Vikings.
Your Minnesota Vikings begin the game
Your Minnesota
Vikings begin the game at the defensive end, having won the coin flip, and
delay to the second half, which puts the Philadelphia Eagles offense on the
field sooner. Jalen Hurts and the Eagle's offense put up 347 yards in half,
truly remarkable defensive ineptitude by the Vikings. Your Minnesota Vikings
had a defensive highlight reel moment on their opening drive, but Jalen Hurts
kept making plays, including finding A.J.
Incredibly, Hurts
led the Eagles downfield, completing passes of 19-and-23 yards to Dallas
Goedert for an 82-yard gain, and got all the way to the Viking's 20-yard line
with six seconds left. Then Darrius Slay caught one more, right after Vikings
linebacker Jordan Hicks intercepted Jalen Hurt's pass, giving the Vikings the
ball at the Eagles 9.
Scores
The first was from
Darius Slay on the Eagle's goal line in the third quarter when Vikings
quarterback Kirk Cousins attempted to throw an inbound pass to Justin
Jefferson. The former saw rookie Q.B. Jalen Hurts throw a perfect deep floater
to Quez Watkins for a 53-yard score that gave the Eagles a 14-0 lead, while the
latter saw the Q.B. bulldoze his way past a pile of Vikings defenders for a
26-yard T.D. run to put the team ahead by two scores. Combined with a dogged
defense, young quarterback Jalen Hurts helped lead the Eagles to a 24-7 win
that was nowhere near as close as the final score indicated.
The Viking's
secondary simply broke their coverage on Jalen Hurts 53-yard touchdown pass to
Quez Watkins. It looked like the Vikings went with soft coverage, giving Hurts
and Sale, as well as the Eagle's offense and defense, a chance to pick them
apart on this final drive. The Eagles Monday Night matchup with The Vikings is
just the second time in Haason Reddick's career at Lincoln Financial Field in
the NFL and his first time there since his rookie season.
I am going to go ahead and ask that Kenneth Walker gets into the endzone on two occasions against the Eagles, whether it is at receiver or on a kickoff return for the Vikings.
