Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Indian industrialist Gautam Adani is only $1 billion behind Jeff Bezos as the second richest person in the world. Adani is now only just behind business tycoon Elon Musk, according to data from Forbes.

Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adani Group, is now the second richest man in the world, having overtaken Louis Vuitton executive Bernard Arnault, according to the Real-Time Billionaires List by Forbes. Billionaire Gautam Adani and his family's wealth has skyrocketed to $155.4 billion, topping French business tycoon Bernard Arnault's holdings at L.V.M.H.M.H.S., according to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List. Billionaire Gautam Adani has added $72 billion to his wealth so far this year, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, and is the only person in the top 10 richest men in the world, other than Mukesh Ambani, who has seen their wealth grow this year. Only one of the top 10 richest men in the world, Adani, has seen his net worth rise in the first few months of 2022, adding over $70 billion to his wealth.

The Indian billionaire has surpassed Jeff Bezos, who owns Amazon, for the number two richest position, now falling behind Teslas Elon Musk, who remains the richest man in the world at $273.5 billion, according to real-time data from Forbes. According to reports, Gautam Adani has been able to leapfrog some of the richest U.S. billionaires, in part because he has stepped up his charitable work in recent times. Gautam Adani has been on a heel-and-toe run for more than a couple of months, closing the gap between some of the world's richest, including Google co-founders Larry Page & Sergey Brin, legendary investor Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates, who are all on a donation spree to charities. However, the place of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has gone up one notch, with Microsoft Corps Bill Gates saying that he will be giving $20bn worth of his fortunes to his not-for-profit - the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

He is the chairman of Adani Group, a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Ahmedabad. He has displaced Bill Gates from the top spot. His group has interests in commodities, logistics and agriculture. Adani has built his fortune through his conglomerate, the Adani Group.
